French Exit movie review

Is it deliberately weird or just European?

What’s it about?

A penniless socialite and her directionless son move into a borrowed Parisian apartment with their strange cat.

What did we think?

Johanna Lyon says: While at first we are held at arm’s length by the void-of-emotion delivery of much of the dialogue, a layer is peeled back and we feel privileged to witness the sense of community and generosity that is the film’s core.

Some great laugh-out-loud moments, smart thought-out camera work, and the fantastic lack of exposition cover for the “Is this odd for the sake of it?” question. 6/10
