A Quiet Place Part II movie review

Picking up right where the first movie left off, can Part 2 delivering more suspense?

What’s it about?

A family has to make their way through the ruins of a world terrorised by beasties that can hear a pin drop.

What did we think?

Peter Linning says: Opening with a flashback to the arrival of the monsters before picking up right where the first movie left off, Part 2 does a great job continuing the tone of the first movie, delivering a family drama wrapped up inside a delightfully tense genre film.

While it would be easy to criticise the movie as simply being more of the same, it definitely falls on the “not-broken-don’t-fix” side of that argument. The premise of the setting is simple, but engages the audience on a level that most movies could only dream of achieving.

Cillian Murphy is a great addition to the film, providing a solitary complement to the family dynamic, as well as a chance to examine how the wider world was affected by the monsters and the subsequent fall of civilization.

I’m very pedantic about not labeling A Quiet Place Part 2 a horror movie – it’s a suspenseful monster-movie-slash-thriller if I’m allowed to call it that, and an absolutely fantastic experience when watching it in a packed cinema. 8/10
