Melania movie review

Is it worth it?

What’s it about?

A ‘documentary’ about Melania Trump int he 20 days leading into the inauguration of Donald Trump’s second term as US president.

What did we think?

Andrew Danyals says: A documentary is an attempt to record events accurately. A non-fiction account of real-life events for history. To label Melania a documentary is insulting to documentarians and the public at large.

Melania is nothing more than a public relations propaganda exercise. An obsequious director fawning over his talent only adds to a sense of frustration. Only the truly one-eyed could find anything even vaguely satisfying in this painful montage that fails to ask any hard questions or offer anything other than superficial grovelling.

Granted we live in an age of highly curated reality shows and social media accounts so it was inevitable a highly funded documentary would revel in a self-indulgent vanity project but to call this anything less than propaganda is disingenuous.

If you’re part of the small but vocal target audience you will no doubt join your fellow cultists in praising this piece of poo but I doubt that even many of you will actually watch this two-hour-long horror that lacks any insight or redeeming values at all.

Vomit
Self-indulgent and self-serving, Melania is the biggest waste of your time since your weird cousin tried to talk to you about timeshare or crypto. 1
Andrew is a lover of film but hater of schlock. He spends his days writing policy and his nights fighting ignorance. Sometimes he thinks he's two sides of the same coin constantly at war with himself.
