Robin Hood

Does the new Robin Hood miss the target?

What’s it about?

Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot, he was not afraid to die, oh brave Sir Robin. He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways, Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin. Oh – there’s a different Robin?

Yeah baby – Robin da Hood – Original Gangsta (the thug life didn’t choose him) (actually it did) #OG!

What did we think?

Stephen Scott says: Are you sick and tired of the same old superhero movies where a rich playboy orphan takes on the corrupt establishment and inspires the people to rise up and take back what’s truly theirs? Sooooooo predictable.

Why not try a modern telling of the classic Robin Hood?

Handsome, rich Robin of Loxley sees the evil inherent in corrupt power whilst serving in the Crusades and returns a changed man … a man who wears a hood and strikes fear into … ohhhhhh, now I see it.

It’s a rollicking action flick that requires no intellectual committment of its audience or scriptwriters. The only thing missing is Taron Edgerton growling “I’m Batman”.
