A cynical London music executive is slowly drawn into the idyllic sea-side community of Port Isaac as he attempts to turn a group of larrikin fishermen into a chart-conquering sea-shanty-singing ‘boy-band’ … all while learning the true meaning of loyalty and love.

What did we think

Like their over-the-top liquorice-flavoured namesakes, Fisherman's Friends is an acquired taste.

This not-too-sacharine sea-shanty fuelled dramedy will be lapped up by fans of David versus Goliath stories, the classic 'tosser redeemed' journey, and those who believe family and love are stronger than money.

Loosely based on a true story, even the hardest of cynics will find it difficult to walk away from this one not reminiscing about drunken sailors.
