Mothering Sunday flits about in time, examining love, loss, memory, and the events that shape a person's life.
There's a dreamy quality to the film that gives it a nostalgic and wistful tone and the story is compact and quite well-told, but it's ultimately good without being terribly entertaining.
If you see yourself as the target audience for the film you'll probably enjoy it considerably more than I did, and if you're not the target audience you'll most likely appreciate it less. 3 / 5 stars
