Blacklight is a paint-by-numbers action thriller, the latest in the increasingly crowded "aging actor plays retired badass" subgenre. When compared to its peers, Blacklight isn't that bad - Neeson has yet to start phoning it in and the movie has a crack at being politically relevant, but it's so predictable and lazily executed that the one-sentence summary I wrote above is an adequate substitute for actually seeing the movie.

It gets an additional half a star for being filmed in Melbourne and Canberra, which provides an amusing diversion. 1.5 stars out of 5
